Lauris Reiniks who recently surprised Latvia with his beautiful and grand Christmas concert-show at Arena Riga with nearly 7000 people in the audience, just got good news from the neighboring countries- Lithuania and Estonia. Lauris’s song has finished in Top 5 at the chart of the year 2012 on Estonian and Lithuanian radio stations.
In Lithuania a music video for the song “Širdis sudegus tyliai” reached more than 1 million views on YouTube just in 2 months after its release. Now the song finished in the 5th place of Top100 songs of 2012 on the popular “Radiocentras” Lithuanian commercial radio station. Interesting that in the highest places there’s only one song in Lithuanian and it is performed by Lauris who is Latvian. Other artists found in Top5 are such as Robbie Williams, Chris Brown and Pink, but Lauris’s fans in Lithuania are especially excited about the fact the Lauris has beat local artists and most of all the mega hit Gangnam Style who finished in the 32nd place.
On radio “Elmar” in Estonia the Estonian version of the same song called “Süda vaikselt närbub” also finished in the 5th place in the chart of 2012 most popular songs. The top positions in the chart are taken by currently most successful Estonian artists like Shanon, Pohja-Tallinn, but the number 1 song according to experts and audience votes was recognized “Kuula” performed by Ott Lepland who successfully represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku. The hosts of the radio show marked that it’s amazing that the Latvian singer has won Estonian hearts with the third song already. “Ma jooksen” and “Linnamuinasjutt” had great success in previous years.
“I am very excited and happy about this news. This is amazing and and I want to say very big thank you to my dear listeners both in Estonia and Lithuania for voting, supporting and loving my music. This song originally known as “Sirds sadeg neparasti” came out in Latvia 10 years ago and got all major music awards back then. Now I see that music has no language, if it’ a good song it will touch people’s hearts in any language. And it still feels very unreal when I hear people singing along my songs in Estonia and Lithuania as if they were their songs. It’s a fantastic feeling.”, says Lauris.
Currently Lauris Reiniks is relaxing after the intense end of the past year and is preparing to return on television as a host of an upcoming primetime television show.
